I am happy to report to you that my tie did not win the ugly tie contest on February 11. It was not evan a close race. Our Chaplain, Lee Van Horn won by and almost unanimous vote. Come and bring your entry. Maybe you can win. Remember, I will host the winner and his wife/girlfriend for dinner in December at a nice restaurant..
The Senior Warden, Junior Warden and I attended the Grand Master's Educational Conference on February 16 at the Scottish Rite Temple in Louisville. I think we all came away better informed on lodge functions and administration. The highlight, however, was a talk at the very end by Christopher Hodapp, the author of Freemasons for Dummies. Chris Hodapp is a member of several Indiana lodges and is a past Master a member of both the York Rite and Scottish Rite bodies and the shrine. His presentation was an outstanding presentation on how to rejuvenate a lodge. I hope Brothers Chris and Matthew will be able to put into place some of his suggestions.
I have given the Brothers who attended Lodge on February 25 a questionnaire of what they like and dislike about the lodge. If you did not attend, I would appreciate your comments. Why do you attend? Why do you not attend? What do you like about attend Lodge meetings? What do you not like about Lodge meetings? The real question, and what we are attempting to determine, is what do you really want from your Lodge? Please mail your comments to me at the above post office box or at hy home, 501 Lakeshore Drive, Lexington, Kentucky 40502.
We hope to see you at the first Masonic Night at the Ballpark. If you would like to attend, please send your reservations to us by email, mail or phone no later than March 15. My email address is fgirtzii@aol.com If you happen to see me and tell me how many will be coming, please make sure I write it down. We look forward to seeing you at the ballpark on May 31 - and before.
Fraternally Thine,
Frederick G. Irtz, II
